Serene Morning Rituals

Every morning is a fresh start. It’s as clear as day the moment you open your eyes and feel the sunlight peeking through your curtains.

You’ll sense the warmth of the sun against your face and the yellow glow reflected on your bedroom wall fill you with optimism—before even getting out of bed.

Stretch. Notice how our dogs or cats never awake from a slumber without first stretching their limbs? They remind us that we need to stretch too, even if it doesn’t come as instinctively to us as it does them.

Breathe and begin your day slowly.

It’s finally spring so open your window. Watch the sun rise as you hear the birds chirp. You’ll find yourself smiling and gently meditating on the day ahead.

If you’re up to it, move around and exercise, anything from a few yoga poses to a full cardio workout.

Mornings are also a great time for connecting with beauty and nature. Walk through your garden and check on your flowers if you planted some. Cut a few to bring indoors and arrange in a beautiful vase. If you don’t have a garden, just breathe in the dewy morning air and watch the birds flutter through the trees up close.

Even a shower and morning skincare routine feel pleasant and sweet when starting a brand new day. Revel in applying your favourite moisturizer, taking in its smoothness and delightful, fresh scent.

Give yourself one or two hours in the morning to be in nature, to nurture your body and eat a good breakfast. If there is time left before you need to leave, read a book, write in your journal, tidy up or do anything else you enjoy.

If you can, don’t look at your phone until you’re ready to leave the house; there may really be no need to.
